DESCRIPTION:Dr. Tim Morgan will discuss how the USS ALABAMA’s communication system was used and how critical Radio Central was to the operation of the ship during WWII. After the presentation\, visitors can take a privately guided tour of Radio Central. Tim is a member of the Deep South Amateur Radio Club and one of the driving forces behind the restoration of Radio Central. He is a retired history professor. Lecture will take place in the Wardroom and is free to attend. Included in day’s admission.

SUMMARY:Living History Crew Drill
DESCRIPTION:See history come to life when our WWII reenactors board the battleship USS ALABAMA and submarine USS DRUM for their drills.  These historical reenactors\, dressed in period uniforms\, tell the stories of the original crewmen.  Presentations and demonstrations throughout the day.  Live radio transmissions from Radio Central.  Be on the deck of the ALABAMA at 1:00 p.m. when “call to battle stations” is sounded.  Enemy airplanes will attack the ship and the crew members will defend her with guns blazing!   It’s an exciting time to be at the park.   All activities are included in the day’s admission.
